Original linen-backed patent lithograph for Henry Herman Westinghouse and Francis M. Rites' improvement of a steam engine, one page, 14 x 10, October 15, 1888. The diagram features three views of the steam engine, in which heat is applied to water to generate steam, and the resulting force pushes a piston back and forth inside a cylinder. The top border reads: "A.D. 1888. Oct. 15. No. 14,823. Westinghouse & Rites' Complete Specification." The lower border features the printed text: "London. Printed by Darling and Son Ltd. for Her Majesty's Stationery Office. 1889" and "Malby & Sons, Photo-Litho." The right border reads: "This Drawing is a full-size reproduction of the Original." In fine condition.
