''Buffalo Bill'' Cody personally owned chair from his ''TE Ranch'' near Cody, Wyoming, the town which he founded. Already wildly successful from his touring show, ''Buffalo Bill's Wild West'', he purchased and expanded his TE Ranch over the years to 8,000 acres, to house his thousand head of cattle and for entertaining guests. Chair originally came from the sale of Cody collector William Lentz and includes original Lentz tag: ''Butterfield & Butterfield Auction 1988 From: Collection of Julia Cody Goodman #316 Oak Ladder Back Chair with woven seat from Cody TE Ranch, Cody Wyoming Lentz Collection.'' Ladder-back chair with woven seat is made of natural wood and measures 17.5'' in length, 15'' in width and 35'' in height. Weaving of chair seat is slightly worn. Also includes two 4'' x 6'' facsimile signed cards depicting the cowboy in his most famous portrait pose circa 1880s, with their original envelopes, offered at the last show in 1916 before his death in 1917. Overall, near fine condition.
