Western Photography and Ephemera Collection
Western Photography and Ephemera Collection. Large group of approximately 75 items, late nineteenth - early twentieth centuries, pertaining variously to Native Americans and the West. Highlights include: four cabinet card images, ca. 1890, of Indian children who are identified on the verso and have an Idaho provenance. There is also a wonderful series of eight early twentieth century sepia prints, averaging 6" x 8", by Kansas photographer George B. Cornish. These images depict identified Indians and life-on-the-range scenes. The photography is nicely supplemented by invoices, pay vouchers, a stock certificate, and canceled checks from throughout the Western states and territories. The most significant paper item in the collection is a Document Signed by Captain John S. Poland, 6th U.S. Infantry, at Standing Rock, Dakota Territory, August 4, 1876. Here, some five weeks after Little Big Horn, Poland approves expenses associated with a sergeant's furlough. The items in this collection are generally free of defects and average fine condition.

Shipping: Small Flat (view shipping information)
