1st. century BCE semi-circular jade girdle ornament representing the lower part of the jade chatelain girdle chain. 2 adjacent dragons carved in high relief decorate the obverse side of the jade carving. The ends of the plaque are displaying a dragon carved in bas relief. The reverse side is decorated in bas relief. This is an exquisite carving in open work and high relief in green jade that now has age partial calcination. Diameter: 4.5" (11.5 cm.). Provenance: Dr. Veleanu's jade collection, the author of collectors textbook: "Jade, 5000 BC to 1912 AD, Guide to collectors". Estimated retail value: $1800.
