The present serigraph in red, yellow and green was made in 1980 by German pop art artist Werner Berges (b. 1941). With its white cutouts, this composition seems a combination of small islands in the ocean. The face and hair stand out like branches from the background. Bright primary colors and the use of contours and stripes are typical of Berges’ oeuvre. The content of his works are models and stars from the advertising industry and fashion, which, due to the artist’s individual depiction, are provided with a new value.
The serigraph is signed lower right, ‘Werner Berges’. The sheet is in very good condition with a light crease lower left. The sheet size is 58.5 x 41 cm. The work comes with a white mat. (cko)
