Wendy Pini and Joe Staton - Johnny Quest #2, pages 1, 3, 5 and 7 Original Art (Comico, 1986). We were never told, in the original "Jonny Quest" TV series, what happened to Jonny's mom. Now, in Jonny Quest #2, writer William F. Messner-Loebs, and artists Wendy Pini and Joe Staton give their version of what happened, and, at the same time, tell how Race Bannon became assigned to protect the scientist and his son. Sensitively told, with much affection for the characters, Wendy Pini's pencils handle the tension and tenderness necessary to tell such a poignant tale. Jonny Quest, his father Dr. Benton Quest, Hadji, Race Bannon and Bandit all appear in these four wonderful pages. The art measures 10" x 15" and with the exception of some miscellaneous word balloon discoloration, the work is in Excellent condition. From the collection of Richard and Wendy Pini. Richard says: "Wendy was a big fan of the original (and as far as we're concerned, the only) "Jonny Quest" animated cartoon series. She credits Doug Wildey's masterful use of large areas of black for shadowing as a major influence on her artistic evolution. When Comico, in the mid-1980s, got the license to produce a Jonny Quest comic book series, Wendy jumped at the chance to work with writer William Messner-Loebs on the story that introduces her favorite character, Race Bannon." 4 Original Art
