We love our clients. They bring such a wealth of knowledge to us. One of our customers pointed out to us that this is a reproduction that we didn't catch. We have attached is notes below along with our original description for your edification.

Dear Holabird Western Americana,
You may want to research this piece a little more as the WFC belt buckle maybe a reproduction of fantasy piece struck in the late 1960's or early 1970's. The original M1887 US Army belt buckles made by Mills can be identified by the wording on the back of the buckle that almost runs off the edges of the buckle. The reproductions have the same reverse as your example.

The belt buckle is an Anson Mills piece stamped WF & Co with the face in good condition. The pocket watch is a Rockford Watch Co. mechanism manufactured in 1882, the face is a Barrett and Sherwood and it is set in a nickel case. The Rockford Watch Co. is known for their reputability in railroad watches. The back of the case is inscribed "Wells Fargo & Co. Express San Francisco Agents For The Gold Coast". Quality piece built for functionality and reliability for Wells Fargo. City: State: Date: Inventory# 38538
