Scarce advance paper that preceded the Wanted Posters, San Francisco, November 30, 1888. 5 7/8” x 6 7/8”. Sent by J. B. Hume, Special Officer, Wells Fargo & Co. with engraved image and caption: The above is a good picture of Black Bart the Po. 8; of course he may have changed his appearance by altering the style of wearing his beard and mustache, or by dyeing it, as it is naturally almost white. Front features great descriptions of robberies perpetrated by “C. E. Boles” along with a description of the man. Shows loss of paper at bottom edge. Comes with a very rare handwritten page from the Wells Fargo Express ledger book that lists wanted criminals, including Black Bart, which is attached to a page from The Express Gazette, containing an article titled “The Train Robber.” 11 1/2” x 7” (folded)
