Well Stocked Surgical Kit, Attributed to the Waffen-SS

Measuring roughly 17 inches wide, 12 inches tall and 5 inches deep, metal briefcase-style construction overall with a white paint job and a prominent red cross on the front. Inside the case are a wide assortment of individual containers and loose tools, in particular a set of 7 steel cases in a variety of latch and lid styles, all engraved on the lid with a Rod of Asclepius flanked by the initials "S B", and a roll-up canvas tool pouch. Among the tools in the case are a pair of cased syringes with interchangeable needles, a portable battery operated otoscope with interchangeable heads, and a head mirror, and one of the cases doubles as a surgical instrument tray. Notes from the consignor attribute the case to Oskar Dienstbach, a medical doctor who joined the Nazi Party and the SS shortly after the Nazi's rise to power, joined the Wehrmacht in 1939, and transferred to the Waffen-SS in 1940. During his tenure, he was a staff doctor at Sachsenhauser, Mauthausen, Flossenburg and Auschwitz concentration camps, as well as with an SS armored reconnaissance division, and died in Allied captivity in October of 1945.

Very good overall. The case shows some wear and scuffing on the finish. The tools have not been function tested, but appear to be in good condition overall.
