Wedgwood Queen's Ware commemorative pitcher, circa 1885. This creamware vessel features brown transfer-printed decorations on a cream-colored earthenware body. The primary face displays a portrait of Josiah Wedgwood after a painting by Sir Joshua Reynolds, flanked by text recording his birth in Burslem in 1730 and his death in Etruria in 1795. The reverse side depicts the Portland Vase accompanied by text detailing its history and Wedgwood's reproduction. A panel below the spout honors Wedgwood as the Father of English Pottery and inventor of the pyrometer. The rim and spout are decorated with a foliate and geometric border. The base retains a Rubin Collection label and a handwritten dealer inventory sticker.
