Wedgwood Pearl Ranunculus Compote
This antique Wedgwood Pearlware footed compote is decorated in the vibrant Ranunculus pattern, dating to the mid-19th century, approximately 1840-1868. The form consists of a shallow, circular tazza featuring a scalloped, lobed rim and two integral pierced scroll handles with molded acanthus leaf details. The ceramic body is finished with hand-painted polychrome enamel decoration, centered by a large, finely detailed floral spray including tulips, ranunculus, and daisies. Coordinating smaller floral sprays adorn the rim and the flared foot. Elegant gilded highlights accent the rim and the molded handles. The underside of the base features an impressed WEDGWOOD mark, handwritten inventory numbers 2214 / III in ink, and a circular collector label for the COLLECTION RUBIN. Approximately 9.5 inches wide including handles.
