A Wedgwood fine earthenware octagonal plate in the Camelia pattern, manufactured at the Etruria works in Staffordshire, England. The central decoration features a polychrome transfer-printed floral bouquet of large camellias in shades of iron-red and orange, accented by smaller yellow blossoms and green and blue foliage. This central motif is enclosed within an ornate, scrolling rococo-style frame in burnt orange and brown. The wide border is further embellished with deep navy blue panels at the corners containing stylized floral sprigs, and the rim is finished with a thin orange-yellow band. The decoration combines transfer-printing with hand-enameled highlights. The reverse of the plate displays a brown printed mark reading Camelia, Wedgwood, Etruria England, and an impressed Wedgwood mark with the three-character code 4KD. A circular silver collection label for the Rubin Collection is affixed to the underside. Dimensions: 0.50"H x 10.50" dia.
