Wedgwood Eric Ravilious Design Mid-Century Modern Lidded Jars
A pair of mid-20th century lidded earthenware jars produced by Wedgwood in their signature Queen's Ware body. These cylindrical canisters feature flush-fitting lids and represent a sophisticated mid-century aesthetic, with the shape attributed to designer Robert Williams (c. 1963) and the decorative patterns attributed to Eric Ravilious. The first jar is decorated with a bold geometric honeycomb pattern featuring individual cells finished in red, black, and teal enamel over a transfer-printed outline, with a coordinating starburst motif on the lid. The second jar features an intricate black transfer-printed design of stylized, overlapping leaves and geometric starbursts with pale yellow and green color highlights, paired with a plain cream lid. The bases of both jars bear the printed mark of ETRURIA WEDGWOOD & BARLASTON, MADE IN ENGLAND. One jar is stamped design 63. Both items carry prestigious provenance, featuring circular stickers from the Ellis Rubin Collection. One jar also retains a handwritten adhesive label stating: Wedgwood lidded pot 1963 (Shape by R. Williams). Overall weight: 1 lb. 8.1 oz. Dimensions based on the tallest pot.
