A finely detailed limited edition white on black jasperware mug by Wedgwood, designed by Richard Guyatt to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the birth of Josiah Wedgwood FRS (1730-1795), widely regarded as the Father of English Potters. The generously proportioned mug features applied white relief medallions of classical figures and profile portrait busts within octagonal reserves, flanked by stylized anthemion motifs and centered with gilt floral rosettes. A gilded hexagonal panel bears the commemorative inscription. The interior is banded with a continuous gold foliate motif, and the handle is embellished with rosettes and gilt lining. Base marked with a dedication in gilt script and edition details. This is number 180 from a limited edition of 200, with original certificate and presentation box included.
