Wayne Hall Original Pen and Ink Illustration - Disappearing Brides, Signed
Original pen and ink illustration by the artist Hall, believed to be created in 1939, and published in Love Story magazine for the story Disappearing Brides, Part II, in the February 6th issue. The drawing features dramatic figural composition with a fashionable woman in the foreground stretching in front of a large decorative mirror, while a man seated before her looks up, captivated. A third figure, a uniformed server, enters the scene with a tray of food, adding tension and social context. Annotations and page references on the reverse provide a narrative excerpt: "Ailsa couldn't remain quiet... She kept walking about nervously, wishing things would sort out in her mind..." Signed HALL lower right, with faint evidence of the date "39". Done in strong black ink with confident linework and fine shading, this piece exhibits the expressive storytelling and mid-century style characteristic of Hall's illustration work.
