This compelling 1942 ink drawing by Wayne Hall was produced for the May issue of Love Story magazine, illustrating the third installment (Part 3) of a serial titled "The Wishing Star." The recto contains the original commission notes in bold felt-tip script. Included is a scraps of label reading "The Wishing Star Part 3," confirming part three of the romantic series. The artwork depicts a refined outdoor scene under leafy branches: a well-dressed couple - one holding a tray, the other framed piece - faces a stately older gentleman with a mustache, perhaps delivering a telling moment in the plot. The artisan ink strokes show Hall's keen ability to render character and socio-romantic tension, with expressive line weight and shadow. The entire piece is signed discreetly in red ink in the lower corner - Hall. Set in a vintage-style black frame with beige mat, this illustration exhibits light toning and age-appropriate foxing, authentic to its 80‘year history and enhancing its collectible charm.
