Wayne Boring - Original Comic Strip Art for Superman daily dated 3-9-48 (McClure Newspaper Syndicate, 1948). An amusing daily by classic Super-artist Wayne Boring, in which the Man of Steel tries to dissuade a milquetoast from the affections of a busty femme fatale. "Brother! This really is a job for Superman!!" Most collectors consider Boring to be one of the quintessential Superman artists, and this is a splendid example of his sterling work on the long-running strip. 6" x 19 1/2" on duotone paper, there is a cropping line along the bottom eighth of the artwork -- this was done because, in many markets, the newspapers allowed considerably less space for comic strips, and the artwork had to be shrunk down from its original size. These crop lines gave copy-editors an easy Guide to removing a portion of the art for their layouts. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour.
