An early Watkins Time Recorder, made in England, circa early 20th century. This fascinating industrial artifact features a mahogany case with a nickel-plated mechanical punch mechanism, hinged front lid with glass viewing window, and a manual lever system for time stamping employee cards. The interior houses an intricate arrangement of gears, rollers, and a numbered date ribbon, alongside a secondary dial and a brass control plate marked "Hour Change - One Minute Past Hour Pull Lever Once to Advance Each Hour." The primary clock dial is marked "Made in England" and the inner maker's plate reads "Watkins - 89 High Street, Aldersgate, London." This piece exemplifies early 20th century advancements in workforce management and precision mechanics, blending functional ingenuity with period craftsmanship. Good overall condition with light wear consistent with age. Mechanism and components appear complete; untested for working order. Retains an attractive aged patina to both metal and wood surfaces.
