<B>Waterford, PA</B></I> - $10 1902 Date Back Fr. 619 <B>The Ensworth NB</B></I> Ch. # (E)10027<BR> This Erie County issuer was one of the least well capitalized banks in the state. Although several Series 1929 examples are known, large notes had been unreported from this institution until we catalogued this item. It comes from the sole issuer in this small community, and from a family owned private name bank that was owned and operated by the Ensworth clan from its inception in 1911. This example is signed by H.C. Ensworth as Cashier and F.W. Ensworth as President. Unlike many "unique" items, this piece has more than a fighting chance of remaining in that category forever, as the bank it comes from had a miniscule $430 outstanding in large notes back in 1935.
