<B> Washington College Stationery.</B></I> Unused letterhead, 4.74" x 5.5", Lexington, Virginia. Known as Washington and Lee University today, Washington College had the honor to employ Robert E. Lee as its President following the War Between the States. Here are two quite scarce mementos from Lee's tenure at the institution's helm. The first is an unused letterhead, 4.5" x 5.25", dated 1869, having an engraved vignette in its upper register of Washington Hall flanked by Payne and Robinson Halls. It carries a manuscript canceled U.S. Revenue stamp. Some small, isolated stains with hints of an inscription on the verso. Fine condition. The second item is a stamped, inscribed and canceled envelope dominated by the same image of the school. Light stains, Very Good condition. <BR><BR><B>Important notice:
