1866 - Incorporated in 1865 under the laws of the State of New York. Certificate No. 381 issued to E.R. Pelton for 20 shares. Signed by Richard Amerman, president, and S.R. Hutchinson, secretary. Vignette of miners working underground at center-top and working above and below ground at bottom-left. Ornate black border and print with fancy area for assessment stamp at bottom-right (assessment stamp dated "Jan. 10, 1866"). U/C. Printer: Henry Seibert, N.Y. Rare piece, with little history found relating to company. Production average per ton at mine was $479.52 (Dec. 1866), $312.37 (31 March 1867), and $447.69 (30 June 1867) [Ref: Mineral resources of U.S., Browne, 1868, pps. 405-407]. The President, Richard Amerman, might also have been in real estate; while the purchaser, E.R.
