This is a nice example of a mid-WWII commercial P.38 pistol as manufactured by the Walther company. The left side of the slide is marked with the Walter Banner followed by the factory legend and caliber in two lines and "Mod.P38". The serial number, (15790) is located on the right side of the frame, the front of the barrel lug and the top, right, side of the slide rail. The bottom of the locking block is stamped "790". The right front corner of the slide is stamped with the "Eagle/N" commercial proof mark, as well as the right side of the barrel and locking block. It is fitted with the standard dark brown, ribbed plastic grips, with the three circular mold marks on the back with the top one having the grip makers logo intertwined with "38/zs" and the bottom one marked "P/1529/S". The magazine is blued and marked "P.38" on the lower left side with a single "Eagle/359" Waffenamt proof on the back side.
