Original War of 1812 Broadside for the Brigade Muster of the First Brigade, second division of the militia of Massachusetts at Danvers. Broadside reads, in part, "EACH and every Commandment of a Regiment or Corps on their arrival at the parade will march immediately into the field, taking different positions, to be ready precisely at 10 o'clock A.M. by a signal gun from the Regiment of Artillery, to form the line in the following order…The inspection will commence by a General Review of the line from right to left, accompanied by the Field and Staff officers of each regiment and corps. The field drum will then beat a signal for the line to wheel by companies to the right—the inspection will be then made…The Cadets and Mechanic Light Infantry will take their posts in the right wing. The right wing will then advance in the following order, viz—the Cavalry will advance and dislodge the Essex Hussars from the entrance of the field and pursue them round the hill to the rear of the left wing, where they will continue skirmishing during the action…During the engagement all must be done with the greatest deliberation. That it may be more accurate, it is most earnestly enjoined on all officers commanding platoons to give sufficient time to the men too load, and be particularly careful that every rod is retuned.” The broadside was issued by "David Putnam, Brig. Gen. 1st Brig, 2d. Div.” Intersecting folds, some scattered paper loss to edges, a minor edge tear, scattered dampstaining, mounting remnants, and a few wrinkles and creases, otherwise very good condition.
