Walther P.38 AC-41 Semi-Automatic Pistol, #9245a, 9 x19mm cal., double action, 4-7/8'' barrel, early high polish correct factory bluing, all small parts are marked with the ''(eagle)/359'' waffenampt, matching numbers on frame, slide, barrel, and action wedge block; dark brown Bakelite grips, with unnumbered P.38 magazine with two ''(eagle)/359'' waffenampts. These AC-41 and earlier Walther made P.38s were beautifully finished and marked profusely, as the war had not hampered production efforts. Most of them went to the Eastern Front, so they do show use, sometimes heavy use. This example shows some age and wear commensurate with light use in battle, but is still a fine example of a wartime P.38. Condition is near excellent retaining approx. 80%-85% original finish overall. There is some holster wear to the muzzle area of the barrel with a couple of spots of light rust pitting, mainly on left side of barrel. Slide shows high edgewear on the sides, with numerous light scratches and thinning on the right side, slight pitting on the left side rear near the slide finger grooves, and high edgewear to the safety lever. Stamped cover over the firing pin shows wear to the finish at the rear. Trigger guard shows some holster wear on the sharp edges. Front gripstrap is very strong showing only some pinprick losses to the finish. Sction functions properly, bore is mirror bright with strong lands and grooves. Grip panels are excellent, showing just the slightest use and light wear. Magazine shows most of its dull blued finish with a few light scratches, and has a polished blued floorplate. Est.: $800-$1,200. (C&R/PPT)
