German physicist (1864–1941) known for his theories behind the calculation of chemical affinity as embodied in the third law of thermodynamics, for which he won the 1920 Nobel Prize in chemistry. Partly-printed DS in German, signed “Nernst,” four pages on two adjoining sheets, 9 x 13.75, June 24, 1922. Untranslated document from the Frederick William University of Berlin regarding a student’s academic schedule, signed at the conclusion by Nernst. In very good to fine condition, with creasing to the edges and two punch holes to the left side.
