Walter Plunkett's presentation bound costume still book from Gone With the Wind given to him by Da
(MGM, 1939) A fantastic collection of behind-the-scenes photographs and costume stills from Plunkett's tour-de-force, "Gone With the Wind". Consists of 101 photographs, one tipped to each page, featuring different Walter Plunkett designs from the dressing room to the final print of the film. Some photographs show Plunkett making last-minute adjustments to the stars as they are about to shoot their particular scene. One wardrober's still is inscribed by Olivia de Havilland in pencil, "For Walter with affectionate gratitude for his beautiful work, Olivia de Havilland". Also features a typed letter signed by David - O. Selznick to Plunkett, dated October 23, 1939 and tipped to the second page of the book, which reads: "I should like at this time to congratulate and thank you once again for your brilliant costuming job on 'Gone With the Wind.' I think it is possibly the most effective job of its kind that has ever been done in pictures. Cordially yours, David O. Selznick". Finally, the first page is graced with an original ticket to a screening of GWTW at the Loew's Theater in Atlanta, dated January 19, 1940 -- most certainly Plunkett's very own ticket stub. An absolutely wonderful memento, direct from Plunkett's estate. Bound in a gorgeous half-calf binding with gold gilt lettering, "GONE WITH THE WIND -- STILLS", with Plunkett's name embossed at the lower right.
