American aviator who achieved fame as the pilot of the Curtiss NC flying boat "NC-4," the first aircraft to make a transatlantic flight in 1919. AQS on a 7.25 x 10.5 off-white sheet of his personal letterhead. Hinton writes: “Pilots are made not born any normal man or woman can learn to fly. Good pilots are the result of study, thorough training and practice.” In very good condition, with scattered toning, heavier to edges, pencil lines above signature, and scattered creasing.
