American cartoonist (1913–1973) best known as the creator of Pogo, whose offbeat humor and sly political commentary earned it a place among the most beloved strips of all time. Original hand-inked four-panel Pogo comic strip, dated May 29, 1952, on a 16.5 x 5 sheet of off-white artist’s cardstock. Strip depicts Albert Alligator acting as Pogo’s military aide inspecting Pogo’s cabinets, and ending up with his foot lodged in a cannon, with a couple of birds offering a quick, and potentially dangerous solution. Signed in the last panel in black ink by Kelly. Matted and framed to an overall size of 19.25 x 7.5. In fine condition, with a uniform shade of mild toning. RRAuction COA.
