Walt Kelly - Pogo Daily Comic Strip Original Art,
Walt Kelly - Pogo Daily Comic Strip Original Art, dated 12-1-66 (Hall Syndicate, 1966). A cameo appearance by the leader of the Chinese Communist revolution, Mao Tse-Tung, makes this Pogo daily a real eye-opener -- human beings almost never appeared in Pogo! Through the years that he depicted Pogo and his entourage, Walt Kelly populated his work from various families of zoology, including mammals (especially marsupials), a variety of fish, birds, insects, worms, and reptiles, and even, as the occasion might demand, a red dragon! But this particular dragon is not the typical talking funny animal -- this fellow is a real fire-breather! In this warm and friendly daily from December 1, 1966, little Sha-Lan meets a "horse" that's not too thrilled to meet her. Kelly's gorgeous line work really sizzles in this strip, which has an image area of 18.5" x 5" and is in Excellent condition.
