Original vintage off-white presentation mat, 16 x 15.5, which originally held a print or celluloid drawing of the cartoon Der Fuehrer’s Face, with the red pencil caption “From Walt Disney’s The Fuehrer’s Face” very light, but partially legible. Nicely signed in the lower right corner in bold artist’s pencil, “Walt Disney.” The backing also bears the printed Walt Disney Productions label, which reads, in part: “This is a reproduction of an original celluloid drawing, actually used in the Walt Disney production of ‘Der Fuehrer’s Face.’ It is one of a select few that have been released. Walt Disney originals are included in many important museums and private collections. Notable among these are: The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art, Cleveland Museum of Art, etc.” Accompanied by a color glossy 11 x 9 photo of Donald Duck talking on a telephone, reminiscent of the last scene of Der Fuehrer’s Face, which has been placed in the mat. Although we have been unable to find this image in the cartoon; we can only assume that it was cut from the final print. In fine condition, with some light toning along bottom edge. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
