Letter and document group lot related to the publication of the song ‘The Wedding Party of Mickey Mouse’ and a Disney book entitled ‘Mickey Mouse Book,’ which is highlighted by a TLS from Lucille A. Benedict, the secretary to Roy O. Disney, dated October 6, 1931, typed on illustrated Walt Disney Productions, Ltd. Mickey Mouse Sounds Cartoons letterhead, in part: “Mr. Disney is still awaiting a reply from you as to what you are doing with the song ‘The Wedding Party of Mickey Mouse’…Also, Mr. Lang, would you be kind enough to send me a statement of all monies you have collected on the Bibo-Kang book? Several weeks ago I sent a statement to the Kresge Co. at Canada, for the balance showing on the accounts as due from them. They replied that they had sent checks to you in New York covering their entire balance. I have therefore charged this amount to your account.” Included with this letter is the referenced “statement” sent to Benedict from Bibo-Lang, Inc., December 1, 1931, affirming a total sales of $24,994 for the “Mickey Mouse Book,” and a copy of the referenced reply from the S.S. Kresge Company on August 28, 1931. Also included with the lot is an apologetic two-page typed letter from the music publishing company Lee, Bernard, & Madison, Inc., dated October 15, 1931, addressed to Roy Disney and explaining the cause for late payments and confirming that the song ‘The Wedding Party of Mickey Mouse’ has been published. In overall fine condition.
