WYATT EARP'S CANE FROM EARP FAMILY FRIEND.
WYATT EARP’S CANE FROM EARP FAMILY FRIEND. This great cane is fresh onto the market from near Lamar, Missouri where the Earp family lived and where Wyatt first worked as a lawman. It has provenance directly back to the Earp Family. Accompanied by a diary dated 1943. The lady who kept this diary was friends with members of the Earp family, as they are mentioned frequently in the entries, especially Everett. The December 21st entry reads in part "Slipped and strang ankle - thought I had broke my leg” and in the next day’s entry "Everett E. took me to town I paid my tax $22.44 I think Gave Everett Daddy’s gold watch I ask Everett if had walking stick. Only walking stick was his relative Wyatt Earp in return for Daddy’s gold watch he traded me the walking stick It was just the right length!” The cane has a horn handle and German silver ferrule and tip. The ferrule is engraved "W. E.” The consignor purchased the cane and diary together with a brass letter opener and wax seal bearing the initials "H E”. The consignor was told that this is another item the elderly lady had gotten from the Earp family, with no mention of who "H” Earp was. CONDITION: The cane is in very good condition, with a little residue on the tip from a white rubber tip that had been glued onto it. The brass letter opener has a broken tip. The diary’s cover is a bit stained and wrinkled, but the interior is good and legible throughout. This is a wonderful opportunity to own a relic of one of the toughest and most respected lawmen of the Old West. 4-50200
