WWII Waffenwerke Brunn 945 Code G33/40 Mountain Carbine With Cutaway Silencer
Produced in very limited numbers, the "schalldampfer" silencer was developed for use with the K98 rifle, in conjunction with the "Nahpatronen" cartridge, a subsonic 8mm round. Though successful in dampening the sound of the weapon, the muzzle velocity of the cartridge was far too low for combat use. Between the original low numbers of production and the restrictions imposed by the National Firearms Act, examples of any kind are difficult to find on the American arms market. The host rifle is equipped with hooded blade front and tangent rear sights, with the "WaA63" proof on the right side of the receiver ring and "88/ 945/ 1940" on top. Machined components and smooth stock, with "eagle/ 63" and "WaA63" stamps, matching serial number, brown leather sling and cupped buttplate with distinctive extension. NOTE: The Schalldampfer included with this lot was produced as a cutaway demonstrator, and does not fall under the restrictions of the National Firearms Act.
