Originally adopted in 1942 for use on the 1903A1 sniper rifle by the Marines, these scopes actually saw service during the early days of World War II, and then again during the Korean war, with some even being used on Winchester target rifles during Vietnam. The scope is 24 inches long overall with a 1 1/4 inch objective lens, that is fitted with a set of duraluminum, micrometer scope mounts, that feature quarter-minute adjustments. The scope has a standard cross-hair reticule and is complete with screw in lens caps. The top rear section of the tube is marked "J. UNERTL/USMC-SNIPER/1612". It is complete with an original olive-drab green painted scope carrying case with a canvas carrying strap affixed to the side of the scope can.

Condition: Very good overall with 80% of the original blue finish remaining, with the front objective showing an old professionally reblued finish, with slightly more blue loss/rub marks on the sides and top of the scope tube from the scope mounts, mixed with a brown patina in some areas. The scope has very clear optics with no dirt or dust specks, with the cross-hairs slightly crooked/sagging from age. The scope mounts retain 90% of their blackened finish, The scope case/can retains 90% of it's olive drab painted exterior with wear and finish loss on the ends of the can and latching mechanism.
