WWII U.S. FP-45 Liberator Pistol, NSNV, .45 cal., 4'' barrel, finished in the white, of stamped steel construction. Additional number added to left side of grip ''455/031''. Intended to be dropped into occupied territories for use by insurgents during WWII, these pistols were mfg'd by the Guide Lamp Division of General Motors from June 1942 thru August 1942, when approx. 1,000,000 were made in a two-month span. Delivered cost at that time was $2.40 each. They went from design to production to 10,000,000 made in approx. ten weeks, marking a milestone in wartime efficiency and production. Condition is excellent and appearing near new. Est.: $1,200-$1,800.
