This is an excellent example of a U.S. contract Colt M1911A1 automatic pistol that was manufactured in 1942. The pistol has a parkerized finish with blued barrel and checkered, brown plastic "Coltwood" grips. The pistol has a short hammer with knurled spur, checkered main spring housing, checkered slide safety, slide stop and hammer face. The grips have large reinforcing rings around the screws and interior strengthening ribs and mold numbers. The right side of the receiver is roll-stamped: "UNITED STATES PROPERTY/No814538" behind the slide stop hole and "M1911A1 U.S.ARMY" ahead of it. The left side of the receiver is stamped with the assembler's mark "K" and the Colt "Triangle/VP" proof mark on the trigger guard bow, the "W.B." Ordnance final inspection mark below the slide stop and a "P" proof mark below the magazine release. The top of the matching serialized slide is stamped with a "P" proof mark ahead of the rear sight, The left side of the slide is roll-stamped with the Colt 1907-1913 patent dates in two lines followed by the Rampant Colt trademark and the two-line Hartford address. The pistol is complete with a full blue magazine.

Condition: Excellent. The pistol retains 95% plus of the correct parkerized finish with some light holster wear on the edges of the slide. There is some light pitting on the right rear edge of the receiver behind the grip and on the adjacent portion of the main spring housing. The barrel also has 95% of the blue finish.
