WWII U.S. Army Remington-Rand Model 1911A1 Semi-Automatic Pistol
This an excellent example of a early/mid 1944 production Remington-Rand production Model 1911A1 pistol. These pistols were the standard service pistol throughout WWII, Korea and Vietnam. The left side of the slide marked "REMINGTON RAND INC. / SYRACUSE, N.Y. U.S.A." and "P" on top ahead of the rear sight. The right side of the frame is stamped with the Ordnance Corps cartouche behind the grips, "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" over the serial number and "M 1911 A1 U.S. ARMY" in front of the slide stop pin hole. The left side of the frame is stamped with Frank J. Atwood's inspector mark and "P" below the magazine release. It has the late WWII parts such as the checkered stamped trigger, thin hammer spur, checkered thumb safety, serrated slide catch, serrated mainspring housing and late style Keyes Fibre grips. It is fitted with a blued High Standard barrel that is marked with the small "HS" on the right side of the lug area. It is complete with one all blued magazine marked "G" on the lip.
