WWII U.S. Army Contract Remington-Rand M1911A1 Pistol
This an excellent example of a late 1944 production Remington-Rand production M1911A1 pistol. These pistols were the standard service pistol throughout WWII, Korea and Vietnam. The left side of the slide marked "REMINGTON RAND INC. / SYRACUSE, N.Y. U.S.A." and "P" on top ahead of the rear sight. The right side of the frame is stamped with a faint Ordnance Corps cartouche behind the grips, "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" over the serial number and "M 1911 A1 U.S. ARMY" in front of the slide stop pin hole. The left side of the frame is stamped with Frank J. Atwood's inspector mark "FJA" (A faint) and "P" below the magazine release. It has the late WWII parts such as the checkered stamped trigger, thin hammer spur, checkered thumb safety, and slide catch, serrated mainspring housing and Keyes Fibre grips with reinforcement ring around the screw holes. It is fitted with a blue barrel and a blue magazine marked "L" on the lip.
