WWII U.S. Army Colt Contract RS Inspected Model 1911A1 Semi-Automatic Pistol
This is a very good example of a early WWII Colt Model 1911A1 pistol that carries the boxed "RS" proof of Col. Robert Sears the US Army Hartford Ordnance district inspector that was produced in mid to late 1941. The left side of the matching serialized slide is marked with the Colt two-line, two-block address/patent marking with the Rampant Colt in the center and a single "P" on top of the slide in front of the rear sight with the correct matching serial number around the firing pin. The right side of the frame has the boxed "R.S." cartouche with a single "P" proof below the magazine release button. The right side of the frame has the standard "UNITED STATES PROPERTY over the serial number and the front end of the frame is marked "M1911A1 U.S ARMY". It has the milled checkered trigger, checkered wide hammer spur, slide stop, thumb safety, and main spring housing. It is fitted with a later High Standard replacement barrel that is marked with the "HS" and "P" proofs on each side of the barrel lug with a later set of Keyes-Fibre replacement that are marked with the "K" inside the five-pointed star on the inside of each grip. It is complete with one unmarked all blued replacement magazine.
