WWII U.S. Army Air Corps Bombardier's Grouping, consisting of one hand-painted leather A-2 flight jacket, by Roughwear Clothing, size 40, with 11th Bombardment Group and 42nd Bomb Squadron insignias painted on right breast, left shoulder with 7th Air Force painted insignia, right side with CBI insignia. Complete with summer and winter Class A tunic and pants, with U.S. and Air Corps lapel devices, sterling silver bombardier wings, 7th Air Force and CPI patches, and pinback 1st Lieut. bars. Wings on the green Class A are two-piece Amsco with pinback. Wings on khaki uniform are sterling one-piece clutchback. all items are named to E.O. Chamberlin, 2nd Lt. Also included are a green gabardine ''crusher'' peaked visor, as well as khaki ''crusher'', both size 7-1/4, and a field modified A-4 set of gabardine flight overalls with sleeves professionally cut down and tailored to short sleeve configuration. Included with the lot are Lt. Chamberlin's graduation yearbook from!
class of 44-10, Bombardier School, Demming, NM, where Chamberlin is pictured wearing his yet undecorated flight jacket; three additional yearbooks from different classes are included, as are photo copies and relevant items taken from the Internet. Chamberlin's B-4 bag is also included and clearly marked. Condition to all items is very good to near excellent, with flight jacket showing original knit cuffs and waistband, broken crown zipper missing pull, fraying and soiling to the interior neck area of lining, and with general exterior scuffing and losses commensurate with age. Bag shows soiling, staining, and sun fading, but remains complete. Est.: $2,000-$3,000/lot.
