<B>World War II Photograph of Black Soldier: "The Order of the Day"</B></I> by a photographer identified only as C. Gordon. Pictured is a black Army sergeant sitting on the ground smoking his pipe and typing the daily orders for his men. A note on the verso places this in France, 1943. This B&W photograph measures 10.25" x 13.25", exhibits a rich, deep tonal range, and is in very fine condition with just a hint of light "silvering" at the edges. It is lightly glued down (probably removable) to a 16" x 20" mat board that has some folds and edge wear, not affecting the photograph at all.
