WWII Nazi Mauser K98 Bolt Action Sniper Style Custom Rifle with Zeiss Scope
This is a nice custom example of a reproduction WWII German low turret sniper rifle that was manufactured by the Mauser factory that has been fitted with a Carl Zeiss commercial scope. The turret mount rifles were considered the most efficient design of the K98 rifles and they were in service from their introduction in 1939 to the end of the war. The top of the receiver ring is covered by the front turret, the right side of the receiver is marked with a single "eagle 135" Waffenamt proof and the left side has a Nazi firing proof followed by the serial number, with the receiver side wall marked "Mod. 98". The left rear of the barrel is marked with a Nazi firing proof. The rifle has a stamped trigger guard and front barrel band and milled floor plate and rear barrel band. The matching bolt is a correct late war version with the milled safety. The rifle is fitted with an all blued sniper scope made by Carl Zeiss with the top of the tube marked "Zielvien / No 1637 / Carl Zeiss logo" with a large rubber eye piece. The rifle is equipped with a hooded ramp front sight and tangent rear sight graduated to 2,000 meters, steel cleaning rod with slotted head and mounted with a laminated stock and handguard with cupped buttplate. The right side of the buttstock is marked with a large "eagle / WaA135" proof, with a smaller proof in the grip area. All visible numbers match.
