This is a nice example of an all original, mid-1940 production luger as manufactured by the Mauser factory with the all blued parts. The top of the chamber is dated 1940 and it has the '42' code marking on the front toggle. This was the first year of the change to the secret '42' code makings on lugers. It has the later 'Eagle/655'' Waffenamt proofs on the barrel extension and underside of the barrel, along with the single eagle firing proof in both locations, as well as the right side of the breechblock. Standard "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN" on the upper safety area and extractor, respectively. Standard checkered walnut grips and is complete with one early nickel plated unmarked magazine with an aluminum base that is marked '8266i/+' with the single eagle 63 Waffenamt proof. As noted, this model has the all blued finish with walnut grips.
BBL: 4 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 9 mm Luger
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut checkered
Serial Number: 3113g
Condition: Very fine as partially refinished (side plate) with 90% of the original blue finish on the balance with even honest wear overall the surfaces, with minor edge wear and the side plate has cold blue touch up on lower portion, with some minor spotting on the grip straps. The grips are in very fine condition with nice original checkering on both sides, with only minor handling marks in a few places. The back side of the left grip does have a small crack starting to develop but it doesn't show from the outside and would be an easy fix to correct. The Luger has all matching numbers except the magazine as noted above. A nice example of a mid 1940 production luger.
