WWII Nazi Jude Star and Kapo Armbands
WWII Nazi Jude Star and Kapo Armbands. A pair of armbands, one having the Star of David with the word Jude and the other having the word Kapo. In Nazi Germany, Jews were persecuted and they had their rights stripped from them before being deported and sent away to concentration camps. One of the laws for Jews living in Nazi Germany was that they had to be wearing an indicator that they are Jewish, usually in the form of a yellow badge or an armband, both having the Star of David and the word Jude (Jew) embroidered on the star. The Kapo armband was used for prisoners in concentration camps. Kapos were prisoners who served as barracks supervisors or wardens. The position of kapo allowed prisons to establish a victim vs victim system as well as reducing the amount of SS guards needed to run the camp. Armbands are slightly dirty but have no tears or rips. Good condition. From the Michael Clifton collection.
