Hermann Goering Boar Tusk Corkscrew. Hermann Goering was the commander in chief of the Luftwaffe and a close associate of Adolf Hitler. He was known for his lavish taste and avid enthusiasm for the outdoors. He was the highest ranking Nazi official to be tried at the Nuremberg Trials and sentenced to execution by hanging but committed suicide by cyanide the night before his execution. This corkscrew came from one of the Goering trains in Carinhall and was used in the Berghof where it was found by 1st Lieutenant D.C. Watts of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Infantry Division. Corkscrew handle is made of boar tusk and has the Goering Coat of Arms on a silver endcap on the handle. Some oxidation present on endcap with coat of arms deeply etched and Rominten visible under coat of arms as well as the date 26.IX.36, presumably the day the boar was hunted by Goering. Boar tusk has small chip at end tip. Corkscrew has seen use, oxidation present on screw. Included is a certificate of authencity. Good condition. See lots 136-151 for more Hermann Goering items.
