WWII Nazi G98/40 Bolt Action Rifle
This rifle was originally manufactured during WWII at the Metal Goods and Weapons Factory, Budapest, Hungary as the Model 35 and designated the Model 98/40 after the factory was taken over by the Germans. This rifle is similar to the standard K98 rifle in that it uses a K98 style bolt action which had a lower metal stock hanger and it used a two piece stock similar to a British Enfield. The top of the receiver is marked "jhv" over "42" for 1942. The left receiver side wall is marked "98/40" and the left side of the receiver and barrel have the German firing proof. There is an eagle/WaA58 on the floor plate and stock band, with an eagle/66 on the trigger guard plate. The stock has the serial number over an eagle/WaA5 over "jhv" over an eagle/WaA178 on the underside, with an eagle/WaA178 in the pistol grip area. Visible numbers match.

Very good. The rifle retains approximately 50% original blue finish with the balance a smooth gray patina. The stock is excellent with some minor dings and scratches. The stock markings are legible.
