This is an excellent example of an early Mauser K98 rifle equipped with a Carl Zeiss scope. The receiver ring is marked with the Nazi firing proof and the serial number on the left side and the right side of the receiver ring is marked with an eagle proofmark and "BSW". The left rear of the barrel is marked with a Nazi firing proof and the top at the breech is marked "38 Ru160 eagle/13". The rifle has a hooded front sight, tangent rear sight graduated to 2,000 meters and a slotted cleaning rod. It is mounted with a laminated pistol grip stock with matching handguard and flat iron buttplate. All visible numbers match. As stated, this rifle is equipped with a Carl Zeiss scope, which is mounted on a unique single claw and post style mounting system. The scope is marked with the Zeiss logo over "Zielvier/Nr 22529". The semi-turret bases are soldered and screwed into the top of the receiver. The top center mounting adjusting dial has + and - 0, 1, 2 settings on top and elevation adjustments graduated from 100 to 1000. Leather lens caps are included with the scope.

Condition: Very fine as arsenal refurbished/reworked. The rifle retains 97% blue finish showing a thin worn area on the left rear of the barrel, thinning on the bolt handle and some high edge wear. The stock is fine with a few minor scratches, scuffs and dings. The scope is excellent showing some thinning caused by the lens caps. The scope has clear optics. Clear markings and excellent action.
