WWII Mauser byf Code 41 Dated Ku Luger Pistol
This is one of byf code, 41 dated Ku marked P-08 pistols produced for the Luftwaffe. The toggle has the "byf" code and the date "41" appears on the chamber. The serial number on the barrel extension has the "Ku" suffix. The meaning of "Ku" has long been a subject of speculation. Some have concluded that the "Ku" stands for "Kummerrer" or substandard or mis-sized since these pistols were assembled for the Luftwaffe from leftover or mis-sized parts. Others have concluded the "Ku" is a stylized "LZA" that means "Luftwaffe Zeug Amt". The right side of the barrel extension and left side of the barrel has Luftwaffe eagle inspection marks, with the barrel also having "S/42" on the underside and a "WI154" proof on the left side. The left side of the frame is marked "P.08", with extractor and upper safety area marked "GELADEN" and "GESICHERT" respectively. Fitted with checkered grips. Frame, barrel extension and both grips have matching serial number (1696), with the side plate, extractor, sear, and lock bolt stamped with the last two digits of the serial number (96). Blued magazine with plastic base. The left side near the base is marked with and "eagle/37" and "fxo / eagle/37", along with a vertically marked "P.08".
