WWII Mauser ar Code Model K98 Bolt Action Rifle with Bayonet
This is an excellent example of a late war "ar" code K98 rifle manufactured by Mauser-Werke, A.-G., Werk Borsigwalde, Berlin-Borsigwalde, Eichborndamn. The top of the receiver ring is marked "eagle/135 / ar / 44", the right side is marked with two eagle proofs and the left side is marked with a Nazi firing proof. The left rear of the barrel is marked with a Nazi firing proof followed by the serial number, the top is marked with a shield followed by "44 D 35" and the right side directly behind the handguard is marked with an "eagle/135" proof. The left side wall is marked "Mod. 98". Blade front sight and tangent rear sight graduated to 2,000 meters. The front barrel band is milled and the rear barrel band, floor plate and trigger guard are stamped. All visible numbers match. The rifle is mounted with a correct laminated stock and handguard with a cupped buttplate with a faint marking on the right rear and "dot" on the bottom. The cleaning rod is absent and the rifle is complete with a "44 ffc" coded bayonet with a serrated Bakelite handle, matching numbered metal scabbard and unmarked leather frog.
