WWII Mauser Model K98 Low Turret Bolt Action Sniper Rifle
This is a nice example of a WWII Nazi low turret type sniper rifle manufactured by the Mauser factory that has been fitted with a commercial Ajack 4x90 sniper scope. The turret mount rifles were considered the most efficient design of the K98 rifles and they were in service from 1939 to the end of the war. The top of the receiver ring is covered by the front turret, the right side of the receiver is marked with a single "eagle 135" proof, (0nly the 135 is visible) and the left side has a "eagle 135" and Nazi firing proofs flanking the serial number, with the receiver side wall marked "Mod. 98". The left rear of the barrel is marked with a Nazi firing proof and "43 E" is marked on the top right of the breech end of the barrel. The left side of the rear scope base is marked with an "eagle / 135" proof. The rifle has a milled floor plate and barrel bands, and stamped trigger guard. The scope is marked "AJACK 4x90" on the left side of the adjustor base, the adjusting knob is graduated 1 to 8 and the front scope ring is numbered to the gun. The rifle is equipped with a hooded ramp front sight and tangent rear sight graduated to 2000 meters, steel cleaning rod with slotted head, and mounted with a walnut stock and handguard with a cupped buttplate. The right side of the buttstock is marked with a "eagle / WaA135" proof and there is a faint eagle proof on the underside.

The stock has been lightly sanded and re-varnished, and remains very good with scattered minor dents, dings and nicks. The scope is very good with 95% finish thinning in areas and showing some scratches, and dings, there is some minor pitting under the finish on the mount, and the optics are clear. Unless noted above, the markings are clear. The complete bot assembly, barrel bands and scope have been nicely renumbered to match the rifle. A nice example of a scarce Low Turret Sniper Rifle.
